What it does: This tool takes your Yardi CSV or Excel exports — rent rolls, aged receivables, charge details, vacancy reports, budget variances, work orders, lease expirations, and more — and anonymizes the sensitive data so you can share them with consultants, auditors, or vendors without exposing real tenant names or financial figures.

How it works: Drop your files and the tool walks you through two quick steps. First, it finds columns with people's names (residential tenants, owners, contacts). Then it finds columns with business names (commercial tenants, stores, companies). Each type gets its own replacement list so residential names get swapped with realistic people names and business names get swapped with realistic business words.

What stays the same: Dollar amounts, property names, addresses, unit numbers, GL accounts, dates, lease terms, categories — everything except names comes through exactly as Yardi exported it. We don't touch financial figures because they cross-reference each other across reports. Changing any amount would break those relationships. The numbers aren't personally identifying anyway — it's the names that need protecting.

Important: Drop ALL of your report files at the same time. This ensures every name is changed consistently across every file. If you anonymize files separately, the same tenant could end up with different fake names in different reports, and the data won't line up.

How the name replacement works

The system is simple: every individual word gets its own permanent replacement. Think of it like a secret code — once a word is assigned a substitute, that substitute is used every single time that word appears, in every file, no matter what other words it's next to.

Residential (people) example:

Say the system decides: James → Michael, Applebaum → Goldstein, Sarah → Linda, Rodriguez → Garcia

Then across ALL your files:

James Applebaum → Michael Goldstein
James Rodriguez → Michael Garcia
Sarah Applebaum → Linda Goldstein
Applebaum, James → Goldstein, Michael

Commercial (business) example:

Same idea, different replacement words. Say: TRS1 → Apex, Washing → Trading, Adam → Summit, Computer → Pacific, Repair → Supply

Then across ALL your files:

TRS1 Washing → Apex Trading
Adam's Computer Repair → Summit's Pacific Supply
Best Buy → Prime Nova

The residential and commercial word lists are completely separate — they use different pools of replacement words so there's no overlap or confusion between the two.

Step 1 of 2

Which columns contain residential tenant or people names?

Click any column to add or remove it. Every name will be replaced with a random one — the same original name always maps to the same replacement across ALL your files.

Example: John Smith → Patricia Garcia
Step 2 of 2

Which columns contain commercial tenant or business names?

Click any column to add or remove it. Every word in the business name gets its own replacement — "TRS1 Washing" might become "Apex Trading" — and it stays consistent across all files.

Example: TRS1 Washing → Apex Trading
